Dear Family and Friends,
It is with much hope, excitement, and anticipation that Keane and I share our news: We have been accepted to serve as missionaries at Black Forest Academy beginning in August 2014! For months, we’ve been in the process of applying with our missions agency and also with Black Forest Academy (BFA), a high school located in Southwest Germany that provides a college-preparatory education grounded in Biblical principles. Many of the school’s 350 students are the children of missionaries who are serving in countries were this sort of education is not available. BFA currently serves students from 50+ countries, having an enormous global impact!
Keane and I will be going overseas through a missions agency called TeachBeyond. As we began the application process, we were open to going anywhere in the world. It was such a surprise to find out that there was an opening at BFA–my alma mater! Being placed at my own high school brings a new level of excitement for the future, as well the sobering knowledge that I will be returning to a place that has greatly changed in the years I’ve been gone. Even so, we are excited for this opportunity to serve these students and to support hundreds of missionaries who are serving God around the world.
While at BFA, I will be working in the Counseling Department, which offers counseling and therapeutic services to students who are struggling at BFA. Keane will be in the Communications Department using his graphic design skills to work on the BFA website and print materials. In addition, we are both looking forward to getting involved in leading discipleship groups, helping with Student Council, and supporting local student outreach events. In addition, Keane and I will take German lessons, and I will be learning to drive stick shift…yikes!
This is just the beginning. We will be updating this blog frequently to share this journey with you. In the meantime, please pray. We cannot ask for this enough. Our desire is to bathe this entire process in prayer, that God would be just as glorified in our fundraising, packing, and learning stick shift as he would be in working with students in Germany.
We love you. Thank you for reading!
Congratulations, you guys! We’re so excited for what’s ahead for your family 🙂
Awesome!
Sarah and Keane, How exciting for you both. Sarah, who knew years ago when mom and dad surrendered to go; that you would one day return to a mission field, somewhere, let alone God calling you back to Germany. Uncle Jim and I will keep you two in our prayers. We are so happy for you both. Be blessed! Love goes with you.
So excited for you both to be coming back! Tell Keane to check us out, as we have lots of local artists (many BFA art teachers) coming for art classes we offer. And also Dinner and Dialogues, for Creatives! Would love to welcome you both!
Mary Beth
I will definitely tell him about your art programs, Mary Beth! He will be excited to connect with other creatives. 🙂
I am so excited for you as you begin this new chapter in your lives! Praying God’s richest blessings for you!
I’m so glad you started this lovely little blog to take with you. Really happy to be following along.
Congrats on the decision! And your blog header is AWESOME! Did Keane design that?? Keep us posted as you fund raise.
Yes, he did design it. 🙂 He’s great like that!
